 I need a day off

Space is peaceful, you can get lost in it all, how big it is... and how small you really are. Though not when your ship is on fire.

"SON OF A WHORE!" Yelled Keath Lee Why wasn't anything in life easy? He thought just once it would be nice if things worked out, instead of bursting in to flame. This time quite literally.

He had been hired to fly some "Less then legal goods" to Belway. however it seemed the ship he was given to fly had been flagged elsewhere as "Being piloted by a highly dangerous individual--Stop at all costs" so now two alliance interceptors were on him and one had hit his right engine. He had maneged to fly fairly low into the atmosphere, hoping to evade them somehow, but the cargo ship just couldn't fly like the interceptors could, the fact that he had gotten this far without getting blown out of the sky was nothing short of astounding. He gritted his teeth if I get out of this I'm getting my own ship, I don't care what it costs

As he fought to keep the ship steady he looked out the cockpit. the part of Belway he was falling toward was woody, to the right of him there was a small town and to the left a clearing. He pulled left as much as he could on the stick. The ship lumbered and swayed left like a drunken elephant. it hit the ground hard, belly down, nose up, and slid right spinning around till it smashed into the trees and stopped.

As soon as Keath had half his barings back he strapped out of the chair, punched in the code to open the back hatch, and ran out it as fast he could. He saw the interceptors fire at the crashed ship by the time he was almost into the woods. Just one good day...once?

Locke stood on the hill, a few kilometers outside of Penance, a small town on Belway. Through his binoculars he watched as a small cargo ship was brought down by the following Alliance interceptors. He smiled. This job was going easier than he expec-

Damnit, the Gorram captain was smarter than he had seemed. The tree cover had almost shielded Locke from seeing it, but it was fairly obvious the ramp had gone down the guy was running. Locke turned to the two Alliance officers standing impatiently next to him.

"So?" the first one, who's name Locke didn't remember. Not that he cared.
"He's running," said Locke. "Get to the bikes."

A few meters away a couple of all terrain bikes sat waiting, guarded by an Alliance guard.
Locke smiled. This was getting interesting.

Keath was thrown forward by the shock wave of the blast, he got back up and looked at what was left of the ship. Great, no money made on this job He thought, true they had given him a ship marked for death, but they would probably call it even since the cargo was all lost. Yeah real even. Well at least now they should think I'm dead he then started to hear the hum of an engine getting louder. Gorram it! he thought as he pulled his pistol out.

Locke gunned the engine over a small mound. The ship was pretty close, he estimated. The pilot couldn't have gone far. The other ATV switched off, over to his left. He nodded to Officer McClain and the Guard. The other Officer, still nameless in Locke's mind rode with him. They also switched off the ATVs, leaving them running for a quick extraction. The Commander of the Belleraphon wanted this man caught, and soon. He scanned the area, but even with his cybernetic eye he couldn't quite make out the pilot. Could the man have gotten away that quickly?

Keath watched the men from up in the tree, one thing he had learned was that people rarely look up. He reached on his belt for a small round object, he tossed it down at them, one of the men looked at it and glanced up and saw Keath who grinned then looked away, before the man could call out the flash bomb went off. As the men were dazed he climbed down the tree, grabed one of the bikes and took off for the town.

OOC: How are we gonna do Chinese Cursing? Random words?

"Gorrammit!" Cursed Locke, as he rolled around on the ground, clutching his eye. Though in nearly every way it was better and more helpful, a mere flash bomb could leave him half blind for hours. His right eye would recover quickly, but he'd come to rely on the left.

"Quick, on the bike!" he shouted, jumping on the back of the remaining vehicle. It would be too late to catch the man before he got to town, but if they hurried, he wouldn't be able to get out of there. Officer McClain was the first to get to the bike, and he gunned it, and they shot off.

OOC: Here we go, finally. Sorry it took me so long, there was a family crisis.

There was a sudden snapping sound from within the transport parked in front of the drab detainment facility. The sound a neck makes as it snaps, the vertebrae cracking. Then a slight shuffling sound, followed by a low clinking. From the back of the dirty white van, a shaven head looked cautiously out. Seeing that the coast was clear, the owner of the head stepped down from the van, his 6'2” frame hitting the ground lightly, raising a small cloud of dust in the wind-blown street. After a wary glance up and down the street, the man, dressed in a tan, rough-cut prison uniform and carrying a heavy-duty stun baton, turned and jogged down the street for a block before turning into a narrow alley.

Once in the alley, the tall muscular man paused briefly, looking up. Nodding to himself, he jumped, kicking off of the wall to his left, gaining height and angling toward the right-most wall, which he kicked off of as well, gaining even more height. By ricocheting from wall to wall in the narrow alley, he soon reached the top of the buildings, kicking off of the right wall one last time to land in a crouch on the roof of the building whose wall made the left side of the alley.

Wiping the sweat from his eyes with the back of his sleeve, the man broke into a run along the rooftop, easily jumping the gap from that building to the next, and the next, following the rooftops out of town. He stopped at the edge of the last building, this one considerably lower than the first. In the shade of the low brick structure, there was an all-terrain bike parked. Not seeing or hearing anyone nearby, Rook tucked the stun baton he'd taken from the guard back at the van into his pants, at the small of his back, then dropped lightly down from the roof, landing beside the bike, glancing quickly around before straddling the vehicle and hurriedly but professionally hot-wiring the bike's ignition, eliciting a smooth rumble as the engine came to life.

Kicking the bike into gear, Rook spun it to face out of town, raising a cloud of dust as he gunned the engine, causing the bike to jump ahead. He steered it into the surrounding woods, headed for anywhere but here.

OOC: Sorry this took so long. Everytime I came on I ether didn't have time to post, or couldn't think of anything good.

Keath heard the faint sound a bike behind him starting up. "Aiya wuh de ma!" he spat, they were on him. He had an idea, he slowed a bit and jumped, off with the bike still running. It looked as if it would go for quite sometime before it hit something. he ducked in to a large hollowed out log, and waited for them to pass, but just in case they didn't he pulled his gun out to be ready.

OOC: Let's get this party restarted! I finally watched a few episodes of Firefly, so I'm in on the awesome now! Hope I'm not taking too much liberty with your character, GM, but I'm trying to breathe some life back into this.

The bike sputtered, the engine coughing before dying completely. Rook cursed under his breath. Whatever damn fool had last ridden the thing hadn't refilled the fuel tank. They were going to be coming after him before long, he surmised. In fact, he could hear the sound of another all-terrain bike engine already. Something was strange, though, it was coming from the wrong direction. Instead of coming from town, the bike was closing in from the opposite direction. Rook hopped off the now useless vehicle, and, looking around hurriedly, stashed it in a leaf-filled hollow among the trees.

Knowing it was only a matter of minutes, if not seconds, before the other bike got to him, Rook quickly dove for the cover of a huge hollow log laying to one side of a small clearing. Crawling inside, he nearly jumped out of his skin when he bumped into something warm and stiff. Someone else was already in here. Reacting at the speed of reflex, Rook instinctively grabbed the other occupant of the log around the neck, putting the person into a half-nelson. Just as he was about to apply pressure, he heard the sputtering roar of a bike pulling into the clearing. Then the motor cut off. Rook froze, remaining perfectly still, neither relaxing nor tightening his hold on the man he held in his steely grasp.
